Iraq Veterans Launch New Ad: We are Less Safe Because of Iraq

Enough bickering about botched jokes: Iraq Vets want to talk about the issues

Washington, D.C.

“The world is more dangerous because of Iraq” according to a new ad from VoteVets Action Fund, an organization made up of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans.   The ad features four Iraq veterans and retired General Wesley Clark.  The ad comes on a day when the Bush Administration is trying to distract the American public from a failed policy in Iraq, by focusing on a botched joke from Senator John Kerry.

Rand Beers, President of the National Security Network, said the following about the VoteVets ad, “When those who put their lives on the line for this country are speaking out against a failed policy it should make us all see that we should be changing direction.”  Beers went on, “This ad is an important reminder that there is much more at stake in this election than who said what.  The attempt by this administration to distract from the real debate is shameful.”

The ad comes as violence in Iraq has escalated to record highs with October being the deadliest month for Iraqi civilians since the war began and the deadliest month for American troops since January 2005.

The ad goes on to say that “Because of Iraq Osama Bin Laden is still a threat.  Because of Iraq the military is spread too thin.  Because of Iraq there are more terrorists in the world”.
